12.02: The Narrative releases their new album 'Golden Silence'

Today, December 2, The Narrative released their long waited second studio album titled Golden Silence. After 4 years of production, the 12-track album is a mixture of their lives, their stories, and musical influences. Different from their previous albums, Golden Silence is a male-female album featuring a modern yet classic sound composition. Songs such as "Oklahoma Air" hold a country air and in "Reason to Leave" the banjo screams for freedom. "Chasing a Feeling" put the atmosphere in a cool upbeat and as "California Sun" holds to "It feels good with the sun in your eyes, good vibes and the golden silence".

Listen to Golden Silence on the player bellow and feel the golden sound of this long waited album. Available on iTunes also.

Indie Shuffle reviews The Narrative's new song 'California Sun'

The Indie music site Indie Shuffle did a review about The Narrative last song release 'California Sun'. Read the review below

Sounds like: Death Cab for Cutie, The Anniversary

Tags: Indie Rock, Death Cab For Cutie, The Anniversary

Why do we like this?

This is a piece of California in your ears. If you're living there then you will agree. If you've ever been there, then you will also agree. If you have never been, then just picture the most beautiful beaches and canyons and valleys you could ever imagine, and listen to this chilled out jam by The Narrative.

"California Sun" is smooth rays of golden sunshine shining effortlessly on your face. Unnoticeable yet warm.

The track starts of smooth and mellow, working its way into your senses. It progresses naturally like a California day does. Slow, mellow, un-rushed. The production continues to build and small elements are introduced ever so often until by the end you have had another eventful day.

Enjoy this one. It's a keeper.

The Narrative at Acme Feed & Seed show hosted by No Country For New Nashville

After a long time without live shows, The Narrative perfomed last night (8) at the Acme Feed & Seed hosted by the site No Country For New Nashville. The band moved to Nashville around 2016 to create more music and seek better oportunities for the band and personal lives. The site posted on Instagram the photo from The Narrative's performance.

You can check it below

Our buds The Narrative are officially Nashville residents and their first show since moving was stellar!

No Country For New Nashville: The Narrative Debut 'California Sun'

No Country For New Nashville's premiere of new song 'California Sun' and Acme Showcase

Last October 31,the website No Country For New Nashville premiered one of The Narrative's new song "California Sun" and wrote about the performance of the band on their Acme Feed & Seed showcase. You can read the post below

Earlier this year, we introduced you to Long Island transplants The Narrative, when we premiered a new track ahead of their long-awaited sophomore LP. In the months since, the duo, now fully permanent Music City residents, have put the final touches on their upcoming effort, a followup to their 2010 self-titled debut, and will release the album, called Golden Silence, on Dec. 2. Continuing to tease what is one of our most highly anticipated local efforts of the year, the group unveiled another new single, “California Sun,” late last week. Despite the cheery connotations of the title, the song is actually a melancholy, layered, and reflective indie pop tune, chock-full of The Narrative’s signature harmonies, earnest lyricism, and the orchestral bent adopted by their latest material.

You can hear the new song below, and, as we recently announced, you can see The Narrative’s first local show since moving to Nashville, alongside Waterfall Wash and Kayleigh Goldsworthy, on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at our next Acme Feed & Seed showcase. Per usual, the event is totally free (and this one in particular will provide a much needed escape from election day stress), and you can find out all about the lineup right here.

You can listen to "California Sun" on soundcloud and stream on Spotify here

The Narrative publish video about 'Toe the Line' production

Posted on facebook, The Narrative talked about the production of the song "Toe the Line" with a video, that we talked about a long ago, when the band where still on the barn, recording the new album. Check out the post bellow and also the video featured in the post. If you can't open it, click here.
For those of you curious about how a song goes from an idea to a recording... there are many steps along the way, but this video was shot during one of the final stages of workshopping Toe the Line before recording it. Just guitar, keys, drums, and one crappy iphone filter. At this point the intention is really just to run through the song and make sure there's nothing sticking out as strange or bad, and also to get warmed up on some still freshly written parts before having to record them! Anyway, we found this footage from way back when and wanted to share it. The beautiful boy behind the drums is Jay Scalchunes from Peru The Band.

The Narrative new song Toe The Line Lyrics

Check out the lyrics of The Narrative new song, Toe the Line

You make sure you sure look fine
I'll come home and toe the line
I know men are made of dreams
sometimes dreams are all they see

Paint it black and paint it white
paint it 'til you feel alright
I see color, I see red
I see space between our bed

And we've got a long road
But we've got a burning coal
Sometimes it feels too hot to hold
I hope it never goes
I hope it never goes cold

Able tongues they come and go
sneak right by the radio
if I wake up past my prime
will I feel it every night?

Paint it black and paint it white
pull the blinds and meet the light
I see heaven up above
but I see you and I see love

And we've got a long road
But we've got a burning coal
Sometimes it feels too hot to hold
I hope it never goes
I hope it never goes cold

If I gave my heart to you
would it be a lot to lose?
Even in the light of day
I know nothing gold can stay

Even in the light of day
I know nothing gold can stay

And we've got a long road
But we've got a burning coal
Sometimes it feels too hot to hold
I hope it never goes
I hope it never goes cold

Formed nearly a decade ago in Long Island, New York, indie pop/rock duo The Narrative sprung onto the scene in 2008 with their debut EP, Just Say Yes, and continued to build buzz with their 2010 full-length, self-titled debut. Several successful tour outings, tons of media praise, and a loyal fanbase forged from DIY ethics characterized the following years, but the band have been relatively quiet since the 2012 release of their b-sides compilation, B-Sides and Seasides. Ready for some good news? The Narrative’s long-awaited sophomore LP will arrive early this year, and we have a brand new track, “Moving Out,” exclusively streaming below!

The Narrative began work on their upcoming album in 2012, with sessions in a barn in upstate New York that took longer than planned, as they began recording lots of different instruments and more complex arrangements. Life outside of the band also pulled the duo in different directions, with guitarist/vocalist Jesse Gabriel’s release of a solo album, and keyboardist/vocalist Suzie Zeldin’s involvement in Chris Carrabba-fronted folk rock outfit Twin Forks. It’s been a long road, but after a year spent mixing with Richard Flack in the UK,  and mastering from Sam Moses in Nashville, the album is finally finished, and will soon be released.

The band are now partially, soon to be fully, based in Nashville, so in addition to new music, you can almost surely expect to see some live dates in the near future. We’ll keep you posted! Stream “Moving Out” below.

The Narrative - 'Moving Out' Lyrics

The Narrative have posted the lyrics of their new song "Moving Out" on their Official Website, and you can read to it bellow. "Moving Out" will be released this Tuesday, 01/12.

I wanna get out of the suburbs
Let my hair grow wild
And find a place I don't need money
Just to raise a child
I wanna die out in the forest
With my face in the earth
And if my daughter never loves me
Then I want it to hurt
I see the city try to swallow
What I used to call home
I see it blanketing the streets
Now they're covered in gold
But in the corners where the light
Never seemed to lay still
I see a group of angry kids
And they're looking to kill!
I see a group of angry kids
And they're looking to kill!
And oh, I see it now
We'll all be moving out
When all the kingdoms fall
We'll finally see it all
You know I used to laugh a lot
With my friends in the dark
And now they only hear the clock
So we don't even talk
And there are diamonds in our pockets
And they're dying to be sold
But if you're searching for the dollar
Then you'll only find coal!
If you're searching for the dollar
Then you'll only find coal!
And oh, I see it now
We'll all be moving out
When all the kingdoms fall
We'll finally see it all
My, my
When will it end?
Just take my hungry body
To the woods again
Show my eyes
The rising sun
Bury me in everything
We started from
I wanna get out of the suburbs
Let my hair grow wild
So I can gather up the earth
And pass it down to my child
