The Narrative: Eyes Closed Animated Fan Music Video

During the last few days, we produced a video for the song "Eyes Closed". which is one of the most heard and has great repercussion on youtube. We were inspired by a video of the band Sigur Rós. The drawings in the video were done by hand and then digitalized. Check out the video:

The Narrative records music video for new album

The Narrative was in Allentown, Pennsylvania yesterday shooting their first music video for their new album. The clip was directed by Sean O'Kane and Hilary J. Corts. No news until now were divulged but we can realize that the clip will have scenes inside a room and with exteriors. Jesse had said in an interview that in the next months some news would be divulged about the new songs. Probably the clip will be released still this year. Check out the images released by the photographers below:

EP 'Just Say Yes' completes 5 years of release

Yesterday (30/08) The Narrative's debut EP, "Just Say Yes" completed 5 years of its release.

The EP was produced during the years 2007 and 2008 when the band was still previously called "January Window". Its release marked The Narrative's debut in the music career.

Later it received great prominence on sites like PureVolume and MySpace being highlighted on the home page of the sites, and also having two songs on the MTV series: Real World Brooklyn and Cancun, and also on Jersey Shore. Click here to listen to the EP on the site.

The Narrative get top Google search

A few years ago Google enabled a feature in its searches called "Knowledge" where in a given search, information is displayed about the subject and highlighting the most accessed.

Today, The Narrative, after a long time, won its box on searches related to the band, the official releases "Just Say Yes" and "The Narrative" and the songs present in each of them.
We do not know for sure, but this is the first time that an independent band gains such a prominence in Google searches and even more in Google in the United States (being that 'the narrative' is a term often used in relation to education).

Check out the box, searching for "The Narrative" on Google.

New songs from The Narrative 'Moving Out' and 'Toe the Line'

A year ago The Narrative was doing its shows in November and Suzie had posted the setlist of the show, but that ended up unnoticed some information practically visible on it, the name of two new songs present on the band's new album.

"Moving Out" (according to the recording set being the second song) and "Toe The Line" (being the seventh).
Check out the comparison of the images of the setlist of the concert, with the tracklist of the album:

This 'discovery' not so recent was made by the site, we don't know if they really played the songs, because after the shows we couldn't find comments from people who confirmed attendance to the shows. But we hope that they will soon divulge some notes about the new album.

New album: 'Possibly this year' says The Narrative

The Narrative on its official twitter, answered a fan that had asked about the band's new songs for the new album. Check it out:

The band has said little about the release of the album, but we can expect (taking into account the music video they would be recording), that there will be a debut single for this album.

The Narrative's pages on Wikipedia finally publised

In these days the site was concentrated on a single thing, the creation of the pages of the EP "Just Say Yes" and the album "The Narrative" on Wikipedia, and finally they were accepted and reviewed as official. In addition the site added to the page of the movie "The Chateau Meroux" the song Fade as being part of the official soundtrack, which was also revised this week. You can check all the pages created by the site below:

Interview: IndieVerse interviews Jesse

Jesse gave an interview to the IndieVerse site telling about the formation of the band, where the name came from, future projects and more. You can check the translation of it below:
Answering the questions we have the sagas and counselor, Jesse Gabriel.

by Mark on June 10, 2013
The Narrative is an indie pop band from Long Island, New York.
Answering our questions with incisive wit and sagely advice, we have Jesse Gabriel (left)

-Mark-

Background

1) Give a brief summary about the band members and how the band came together.
The band members are me (Jesse Gabriel) and my evil counterpart, Suzie Zeldin. I play guitar, Suzie’s on keys, and we both sing. I’m a Scorpio, Suzie likes Hanson.
We actually went to High School together and grew up in the same town but didn’t really know each other. We “met” through the Craigslist musicians section and realized later on that we were actually much closer than we knew.

2) What else is the band doing while not playing music?
I guess we’re pretty normal other than the music thing. We work, we hang out with friends, we read, watch movies. I wish I could say I collected stamps or something but alas, I am a simple man.

3) How was the name The Narrative decided?
We drew up a long list of names. Suzie was an English major in college and I was a Communication major so a lot of them were based on literary or scholarly terms and theories. At the end of the day we ran with The Narrative and people seem to like it so we feel pretty good about the whole thing.

4) What has been the biggest challenge for the band so far?
As many bands experience, the biggest challenge is being heard. We know we make music people can relate to and appreciate, but getting your music into people’s ears isn’t as easy as it seems. It’s very common we hear things like “wow, how have I not heard of you guys before? This is amazing!”. We know we have a lot of potential fans and listeners out there who simply don’t know we exist, and the true challenge comes in finding a way to get our music to those people.

Musical Style

1) How would you describe the genre of your music? What defines The Narrative?

Genre-wise we fall somewhere in the very vague realm of “indie pop”. We have a lot of influences and they run across multiple genres so our music tends to blend in and out of different sounds, but there is still some “glue” that keeps it feeling like the same band. I think our sound, while definitely reminiscent of a lot of other bands, is unique in its own right and that is why our listeners can identify so strongly with it. We aren’t out to sound like anyone else, we’re not looking to fall into a particularly genre or jump on a bandwagon. We make music we believe in and we do what comes naturally to us. Suzie and I have a very strong natural chemistry when writing music.

2) Tell us a bit about the creative process. Who writes the songs? Where does the inspiration come from?
We both write the songs. Some songs will have more Jesse influence and some songs will have more Suzie influence, but not a song goes by that we haven’t both influenced in one way or another.
Our inspiration can come from a variety of places. Personal experiences or the experiences of others, books, TV or film, and of course other music. When we write, it usually is coming from the need for an emotional outlet.

Current News

1) What other projects are you currently working on at the moment?
Suzie is playing with Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional) in a new band called Twin Forks. I’m twiddling my thumbs and eating an apple.

Looking Ahead
1) What can we look forward to from The Narrative? What future plans do you have in mind?

Well, we’d like to be rich and famous and have our own island in the sun, a Ferrari or two and a whole lot of tequila. Actually maybe two islands, one for each of us. That way if we get sick of each other we can just go to our separate islands.

And Finally…

1) Any last words to your fans and readers of this blog?
Don’t drink and drive. Don’t be a bully. Hold the door for other people. Be kind to your parents. Be accepting of different viewpoints and lifestyles. Don’t work a job just for the money. Don’t hold a grudge. Surprise your significant other with a small gift from time to time. Tell your friends how much they mean to you.

If there is a musician or artist you love, the best kind of support you can give them is to tell as many other people about them as you can. Post on Internet forums, Facebook, Twitter, whatever. Tell people at social gatherings. That’s worth more than a CD or T-Shirt sale will ever be.

Thanks so much to anyone who has ever cared about our band or taken the time to listen to our music whether you liked it or not.

Site: 1 Ano de The Narrative Brazil!

Today ( 14/06 ) the site is completing its first year! We were happy with the response that all the work done from the creation of the band's Wikipedia page to the heavy promotion of the band's social networks, reaching about 7 thousand people, but what was impressive was the result of this and what was generated for the band. The site will continue with the same goal as when it began, the promotion of the band and its songs and the attempt to show more people the independent work that the two do.
And may another year come!

Instagram: Suzie updated her instagram

Suzie updated her instagram yesterday with some photos. And one in particular calls curiosity that is the band with the caption "To Be Continued....". We still speculate about the release of new songs for this midyear and this photo reinforces a little our post about the music video they would be recording. Check out the photos below:

Possible new music video from The Narrative

A few hours ago, Suzie posted on her facebook page a request that there may be something coming soon from The Narrative regarding the new album. The message she posted was as follows:

Some people have already made themselves available from what we saw in the comments. We may be wrong about the video being from The Narrative, because we still have Twin Forks to put on the list. Wait for more news.

News about the new album and new photo

The Narrative just posted a new photo on facebook, probably from an old photoshoot in 2011 on the Warped Tour taken by Pal Mitch Wojcik.  As far as news, they said a bit about the new album in a comment "It's in a good spot. We're looking for some ways to release it. With everything, the band still didn't position itself about dates, name. But we still hope it will be released soon". Check out the photo below

One year of The Narrative's album recording

This Tuesday (March 26) marked the 1 year anniversary of The Narrative going to the 'barn' in New York to record much of the new album and instrumentals.
Practically they spent 2 months from April (releasing in this period the EP B-Sides and Seasides) until May, where they took a break from recording. Then the whole year was dedicated to concerts, recording songs and the search for a record label to release the new album. Still without a name and date to be released, what we can say is that it is certain that the new album will have a more indie feel than the pop/rock of the other releases. The number of tracks will probably be 10 of the 13 they recorded, and these 3 will be released in other projects. You can see what they checked out in the post we made.

Check out the lyric-video of Hallelujah with images of the recording of the album

(2013) The Narrative - News about the new album

Twin Forks gave an interview to PropertyOfZack and they ended up talking about their bands, what they were planning and how the albums were going. Check out what Suzie said about the progress of the new album:

Your other bands are in what status?(...)
Suzie: Our album is already recorded. It is not mixed or mastered yet. The Narrative has released three albums and a vinyl on our own, within those 5 years. We don't want to take a break from this. We need a team to help us. The Narrative material is coming along little by little. The guys in the band also have things to do. There will be plenty of time for things to happen. I am very excited about our new album.
And still nothing said about the release date, or the name of the album. Still we hope that it will still be released this year.
